Daly Waters is home to Australia's first international airport, which was used for various historical moments including the 1926 London to Sydney air race.
The airstrip was also used as an air force base during the Second World War and a Qantas stopover point for overseas travel. There is a hanger containing memorabilia, photographs and old aviation equipment.
Another historical feature is the local Daly Waters Pub.
The building was built in the 1930's and is now one of the oldest buildings in the Northern Territory. The pub is open late all year round, with a range of musical entertainment, yarn telling and interesting parties - such as St Patrick's Day celebrations, a Rodeo and Campdraft competition.
Inside the pub at the bar you can order a very tasty steak or barramundi. There is a huge amount of memorabilia around the walls and ceiling of the pub.
Playing bowls on the main street by the locals and visitors is always well received and enjoyed. |
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT IS PROVIDED |
DALY WATERS PUB |
A very enjoyable time was had by all (including us )who camped in the caravan park camping area next door and over the road from the Daly Waters Pub.
Come and explore the Northern Territory anytime of the year - between May to September is ideal. October to April can get a little warmer and also humid in the tropical top of Australia.
