GARMIN GPS

Novice and professional campers these days protect themselves when traveling off the beaten track to the outback (wild) from all forms of dangers ranging from natural disasters, heavy rain, lightning, heat stroke, medical issues and even dehydration to the safety of a camper trailer or RV ( Recreation Vehicle).
Going with a small group of fellow campers is really essential when traveling long distances away from the normal flow of traffic and small towns.
Always tell someone when you leave and approximately when you are expected to return.
We use our  Garmin GPS connected up to a  laptop with Ozi Explorer Maps for Australian travel.  I know where we are at all times.
The Navman, or TomToms are very good for around the city and suburban areas, but you need a GPS with detailed maps for the outback and regional areas no matter where you are in our wonderful world.
Garmin GPS's are well worth the expense.
I can honestly say the "Garmin"  has saved our necks a few times over the past years.
These are worth a look.    http://amzn.to/hVXXbk

Teardrop Camper and older caravans

We had a magic day when all these beautiful older vehicles and caravans came into town.
The owners deserve all the credit that comes their way for the condition of these vehicles and caravans.
Thank you to everyone who made the effort to bring the vehicles along for everyone to enjoy.
The old saying goes,  "no matter what you camp in, whether it be a tent, camper trailer, caravan, RV or what ever, just get out there and do it"

Hope you enjoy these photos..

CAMP OVEN ON GAS STOVE

My camp oven sits on top of the gas stove in our RV and is really handy for making scones, small cakes, even a nice roast.  Small bread rolls an also be made in this little oven.

This little stove folds flat when not in use and very easy to store away.
Scones ready to go into stove

When temp correct place items inside

All done.

Shelley Beach

Between Denmark and Albany in the West Cape Howe National Park we found Shelley Beach
The camping area is right beside the ocean.  Lovely white sandy beach, quite deep water, even a tiny clean freshwater stream that runs most of the year so we were informed. This is a  small beautiful bay.  There is a  small grass area for visitors to put up their tents etc.
There is a pit toilet and a gas barbecue provided by the local council and kept very clean.                         Fishing is not bad
A note to the swimmers to be aware as rips do occur in this area as well.
During the summer months hang gliding is enjoyed here when the conditions are right.

Jorndee Campsite east of Esperance

You can get to Jorndee Creek with a 2 wheel drive vehicle although I would recommend   a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
The small dirt road into the area can be very soft  once you leave Fisheries Road from Esperance.
There is a small area for day visitors, with a table and seats,  a toilet and rain water in a small tank if no one has left the tap on and emptied it.  Two small areas between theses banksia bushes for campers.  It is a beaut little spot.   Short walkways take you  to the ocean or the creek and the mouth of the river. Caught enough fish here each day for our dinner. The bushes are alive with small birds.  Just have to be aware of snakes even though we never saw any they are around.   Whales can be seen here in late winter and the area is the home for Cape Barren Geese. If you are lucky you might see the Ground Parrot which is now an endangered bird.

Grandsons in Back Yard

Our grandsons can now put up their own tents in our back yard all by themselves . Since an early age they have been encouraged to help with the work load when we go camping.  During school holidays  when we are home our back yard looks like "tent city.
The dome tents are so easy to handle. We are all going camping next weekend down the South West of Western Australia to a beautiful area called Margaret River.   Well known for it's beach surfing as well.

"Uluru" In the Centre of Australia

Our first trip to Uluru, then known as Ayers Rock, was in the early 1980's.
Very bad corrugated road into the park from the main highway just about wrecked our small pop top Millard caravan. We arrived to a small caravan park and the " rock " That's all that was there.
We have since revisited Ulura and what a change.
Sealed road all the way into the park.
Beautiful, excellent facilities.
Camping Grounds, Hotels, Motels, and a very nice Shopping Center now in the middle of the desert.
Lots to see and do.
Airport catering for Interstate and International visitors.
"In Australia", please make the effort to go - you will not be disappointed
Uluru at sunset or sunrise - is a sight you will never forget.

When you are ready to go, please remember our website and book you travel arrangements through Discover Australia
