The Royal Hakea can grow to three metres high, and the leaves can last for up to five years. In the Fitzgerald River National Park they are growing very well. In the morning the sun shines through the tough leaves and the red and orange colors are brilliant.
Western Australia is known for wildflowers. From the north to the south of the state the wildflowers are just magnificent when flowering.
Around the coastline east of Esperance the sand dunes support thickets of wattle, melaleuca, banksia, mallee eucalypts and scrubs.
Little birds we call singing honeyeaters are very common along the coastline to feed from the nector

Holiday Times
Whether you're experiencing cold or hot weather, just get out there and go camping or touring and see our wonderful world.
We try to visit places in their out- of- season times. You will be amazed at what you will find when there are not so many other tourists around.
Try to organize your next holiday at a different time of the year and revisit your favorite summer place.
You will find different birds, trees, and animals.
Even if it is a bit cold just put in a good sleeping bag and take extra clothes so washing will not be necessary until you get back home again
Some of our best trips have been in the off season.

Tent with hinged doors and zip windows
I chose this tent video for customers to view because it is a great concept for campers who enjoy just a little bit more comfort from their tent.
This tent is very easy to erect and well made.
Camping Equipment & Shopping have a good range of Coleman Tents for customers to choose from.
Thank you to Coleman for producing the video.

Little Wharton Beach in the Bay of Orleans area Western Australia
The road goes right down to the ocean onto flat rocks. If the weather is right you can drive your vehicle onto the rocks and enjoy yourselves, whether fishing or swimming close to your vehicle.
Although the road is unsealed it normally is well maintained.
Well worth a look.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Enjoy your holidays. Safe travels.

Camping trip to Fitzgerald National Park
Fitzgerald National Park in south west of Western Australia.
Hamersley Inlet is a very relaxing spot to camp and do a spot of fishing.
Easy walk to the ocean over a couple of sand dunes.

Back home for Christmas
Being a couple of Grey Nomads, we have come home to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season with family and friends.
January 2010 we left to do our "See More of Australia" trip starting with the South West areas of Western Australia. Magnificent views, great fishing and camping areas.
Over my next blogs I will let you know where we went and some of our experiences.

First Time Camper "Tip"
If you are just getting started, take it easy and do not buy things you do not need.
First time camping out, a good idea is to hire your gear from a camping hire store.
Collect the equipment a couple of days before you leave and practice putting it up so when you arrive at your destination you know roughly how it all goes together.
After your first time out camping you will have a better idea what size and style of tent you would like to purchase.
We started out doing just that. With two children to accommodate, some tents we hired were definitely not suitable even though they looked really good.
Camping with our 4WD RV
Camped on the beach front. Fishing not too bad either. Great beach for walking.
